Pop-up specialist Sook closes its doors
Flexible pop-up retail specialist Sook has closed down after five years of trading.
In a statement on LinkedIn, Sook founder John Hoyle said he was “devastated” to announce the company’s closure.
“In spite of the extraordinary efforts of our team, growing sales and achieving international scale we were unable to raise sufficient investment to continue in the current environment”, he said.
The brand was founded in 2019 with the aim of providing flexible pop-up spaces for budding retailers. It had operated five locations in London, one at Bluewater in Kent, and others at Trinity Leeds, Metrocentre Gateshead, Liverpool ONE, Bullring Birmingham, St James’s Quarter Edinburgh, and Westquay Southampton.
Hoyle continued: “I’m so proud of all that we achieved and incredibly sad that we cannot continue.
“Please support our team members as they search for new roles. They have first hand experience of disrupting the retail and real estate sectors during incredibly challenging times.
“Thank-you to everyone who supported us over the last five years.”
