Aldi to open 11 new stores before Christmas
Aldi has announced it will open 11 new stores across the UK before Christmas.
The supermarket retailer will open new stores in Sedgley in the West Midlands and Castle Douglas in Scotland this week, whilst Horsham in West Sussex and Muswell Hill in London will welcome Aldi stores later in November.
This expansion will continue with new openings in Totton in Hampshire, Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, and Pwllheni in Gwynedd also opening in the run up to Christmas.
The retailer will also undertake refurbishments at 15 locations between now and Christmas.
The openings will form part of Aldi’s long-term target to open 1,500 stores across the UK – with the supermarket retailer set to invest £800 million into expanding its UK footprint this year alone.
Jonathan Neale, real estate managing director at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we’re committed to making high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone.
“Our new store openings are a testament to our ongoing investment in the UK, and we’re thrilled to bring Aldi’s unbeatable prices to even more communities ahead of the festive season.”
This comes shortly after Aldi rival Lidl announced that it would be opening 10 stores before Christmas. In addition, Lidl will reopen three existing stores that have either been relocated or refurbished and extended.
