Cushman & Wakefield has appointed Mike Bumford as a partner within its national retail team.

He joins from Knight Frank’s national retail agency team where he advised landlord clients on retail schemes across the UK, as well as acquiring space on behalf of national occupiers.

His clients include Sovereign Centros, Northdale Asset Management, The Ardent Companies, RivingtonHark, and PureGym.

At Cushman & Wakefield, Bumford will primarily focus on leasing shopping centres, whilst also advising clients on both retail parks and leisure assets. His arrival follows other strategic hires at Cushman & Wakefield including Mark Phelps and Jack Lloyd in the out-of-town sector, as well as Stuart Bird in the firm’s leisure business.

Dominic Bouvet, head of UK retail and leisure at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “Mike brings further specialist expertise to support our clients as we continue our strategic expansion in the shopping centre and retail parks markets. We are enjoying positive momentum across the country, which has been boosted by the senior talent we’ve brought in over the last 12 months and the mandates they’ve helped us to win. Mike will be a great fit for the team and his decision to take the next step in his career with us is more good news for our clients and our wider business.”

Cushman & Wakefield is instructed as leasing agent across a number of the country’s biggest retail destinations, including Westfield Stratford City, Westfield London, Battersea Power Station, Cribbs Causeway, Brent Cross, and The Oracle.
