Majestic Wine owner considers sale
The owner of Majestic Wine is considering a sale of the retailer after seven years of ownership.
Sky News has reported that Fortress Investment Group – which also owns the Poundstretcher discount chain –is lining up bankers from Rothschild & Co to handle the sale.
The group also acquired the Loungers hospitality chain last year.
However sources told Sky News that a formal auction may not be initiated for some time.
Majestic Wine operates over 200 stores across the UK and Jersey, and recently reported record trading over the Christmas period, with sales boosted by the opening of five new stores.
In 2024, the retailer acquired wine bar chain Vagabond following its collapse into administration, before snapping up premium wines and spirits supplier Enotria & Coe a year later.
