Luxury wine bar serves up at The Royal Exchange
The Royal Exchange in the City of London has added wine bar and retailer Cru ’78 to its premium retail offer.
Part of Amathus Drinks, Cru ’78 has chosen The Royal Exchange for its second location in London, and its first within the Square Mile, opening a 1,000 sq ft wine bar fronting onto the pedestrianised Royal Exchange Avenue. The unit has been taken on a new 10-year lease.
The Royal Exchange is home to a number of luxury brands, with the likes of Tiffany & Co., Bremont, Omega, Montblanc, and Hermès all having made long-term commitments to the scheme. The retail offer is complemented by a range of dining and socialising options, including Engel and Jang, The Libertine, and the Fortnum & Mason bar and restaurant.
Joe Swindells, asset management and development director of The Ardent Companies UK, said: “The strength of The Royal Exchange as a luxury retail and social destination can be seen in the arrival of Cru ’78, with more occupiers looking to capitalise on the footfall and trading performance the scheme is driving. Cru ’78 is a fantastic addition to our social line-up, and we look forward to expanding the visitor offer even further in the coming months.”
The retail element of The Royal Exchange was acquired by US-based real estate investment and asset management firm The Ardent Companies (Ardent) in October 2022. Since the acquisition, Ardent UK, together with asset manager Pave, has implemented a new leasing strategy and refreshed the advisory team, with City agents at Bruce Gillingham Pollard and Savills appointed at the scheme.
