Battersea Power Station and Curated Makers to support local independent businesses

30th September 2022 | Phoebe Dobke

The Grade II* listed Battersea Power Station will host Curated Makers’ first pop-up shop in London on Friday, October 14, 2022. Curated Makers is a retail concept that connects regional independent artists and makers with the high street. The store will house more than 40 local, independent small businesses selling goods for the home, candles, apparel and artwork.

The Manchester-based marketplace leader has staged a number of pop-ups in significant retailers and shopping malls, including John Lewis, M&S, Paperchase, and Next, since its 2017 launch. The firm is expanding after receiving the government’s Innovate UK Young Innovators award with an initial investment of £5,000 in 2020 and more recently with a Follow-on Fund of £50,000 in 2022.

Battersea Power Station is expected to be one of the most exciting retail and leisure destinations in London with over 100 bars, restaurants and shops including Battersea Bookshop, a new standalone neighbourhood bookshop from specialist bookseller Stanfords opening on 14th October.

A 24,000 square foot Arcade Food Hall from JKS Restaurants, office space, and a distinctive events and leisure offerings will also be included. This includes ‘Lift 109’, a chimney lift experience that will carry guests 109 metres to the top of the building’s north west chimney and offer 360-degree views of the London skyline, and The Cinema at the Power Station, which is connected to The Cinema in the Arches in Circus West Village. There are also 254 apartments at The Power Station, where tenants began moving in last Spring, and a brand-new, publicly accessible six-acre riverside park.
