11th June 2024 | Jack Oliver

Battersea Power Station Development Company, the Malaysian-owned operator and developer of London’s Battersea Power Station, has announced the appointment of Donagh O’Sullivan as chief executive officer.

O’Sullivan will take up the role on 18 June, and will lead the continued development of the former brownfield site, which welcomed over 11.2 million visitors in 2023.

He will also oversee the operation of the scheme’s growing riverside neighbourhood, which is home to over 140 shops, bars, and restaurants, more than 2,500 residents, leisure venues, and office space.

O’Sullivan was previously the CEO of Galliard Homes from July 2017 until March 2022, having originally joined the company in 2001 as a contract manager.

Hailing from County Cork in Ireland, O’Sullivan is a chartered civil engineer, beginning his career with Balfour Beatty in 1990, where he worked on major construction projects throughout the UK, before joining Galliard in 2001. Over the next decade he was part of the leadership that created one of the largest mixed-use developers in the South East of England, with a portfolio which included retail, offices and hotels. He was then made group managing director in 2012 before his appointment as group CEO in 2017.

Tan Sri Jagan Sabapathy, chair of Battersea Power Station Project Holding Company, said: “We are delighted to welcome Don O’Sullivan as our new CEO. Don’s exceptional leadership skills, strategic insights and deep industry knowledge make him the ideal choice to lead BPSDC. Don joins us as we embark on the next phase of development at Battersea Power Station and as we strengthen the performance of our assets under management including the iconic Grade II-listed Power Station. I am confident that Don together with the wonderful team that we have at BPSDC, will take us to the next level of achievement and success.”

Donagh O’Sullivan added: “I am delighted to be joining the Battersea Power Station team. I have long been an admirer of this landmark project on our wondrous London skyline. The exceptional vision and extraordinary commitment shown from the shareholders and the whole Battersea Team has already delivered beyond expectations – I am very excited to have the opportunity of playing a part in the next stages of the great Battersea Power Station story.”
