Budding retailers offered rent-free space at White Lion Walk Guildford
National industry movement SaveTheHighStreet.org, in collaboration with asset manager Redevco, is to launch a competition for up-and-coming retailers to win rent-free space at White Lion Walk in Guildford.
The White Lion Walk Incubator offers independent retailers the chance to win eight weeks of rent-free space within a prime location, as well as support from leading industry professionals through SaveTheHighStreet.org’s JO Accelerator Programme. The support package will include advice on areas such as marketing, finance, customer engagement, and operations.
The ultimate goal of the initiative is to help the winning tenants secure a permanent position at the shopping centre after the initial eight week period, having been equipped with the skills gained from the incubator programme to establish a thriving business and contribute to the dynamic tenant mixture of White Lion Walk.
SaveTheHighStreet.org and Redevco are now calling for dynamic entrepreneurs, either start-ups brimming with potential or more established businesses ready to take it to the next level, to enter the competition.
The White Lion Walk Incubator looks to empower new ventures by injecting fresh energy and ideas into Guildford’s high street, boost the local economy through new jobs and increased footfall, and cultivate a vibrant community by fostering a diverse and engaging retail landscape.
Alex Schlagman, founder at SaveTheHighStreet.org, said: “We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to Guildford’s entrepreneurial community. The White Lion Walk Incubator is more than just free space; it’s a chance to gain invaluable experience and establish a successful business in a prime location.”
Claire Yeadon, asset manager at White Lion Walk, added: “We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with SaveTheHighStreet.org, aligning perfectly with Redevco’s mission to help towns and cities be more sustainable and liveable. This collaborative effort allows us to provide local businesses with a unique opportunity to establish a shop and receive comprehensive support and guidance, ensuring their new ventures thrive. With our recent investment in White Lion Walk, we have successfully revitalised the mall, transforming it into a dynamic destination for retail and office spaces.”
The competition kicks off with two available units in March 2024. Entrepreneurs keen to get involved can find out more here.
