Capital&Centric has appointed agents to find suitable tenants to fill 85,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space across its assets in the North West.

The social impact developer is looking for independent operators to join its communities in Manchester, Stockport, Bolton, and Stoke-on-Trent which are currently under construction.

Agents appointed to the sites include CN Prop, Cushman & Wakefield, Mounsey Surveyors, and Avison Young.

The opportunities include:

  • Weir Mill, Stockport:
Over 20,000 sq ft of ground floor spaces in the historic mills and neighbouring new builds, with the first spaces available in late 2024. It includes canalside outdoor dining spaces with arched brick ceilings.
  • Neptune Mill, Piccadilly East (Manchester):
Ground floor space for a coffee bar and co-working space in the restored mill on Chapeltown Street, with over 15,000 sq ft of design-led office spaces for creative businesses – set to be ready this summer.
  • Farnworth Green, Farnworth (Bolton):
Over 20,000 sq ft of varying-sized units available from late 2024.
  • Goods Yard, Stoke-on-Trent:
Over 30,000 sq ft of spaces across the new build apartment block and pavilion, as well as the canalside double-height Vaults Warehouse – set to open in spring 2025.

Tom Wilmot, joint managing director at Capital&Centric, said: “Whilst we can design and build neighbourhoods that standout from the rest, it’s the eclectic mix of operators that will ultimately make the place sing. We’ve got a raft of flexible spaces to suit a whole range of needs, whether it’s a creative start-up looking for a more inspiring place for their HQ, or a pizza joint or café deli itching to expand into new territories. There’s a real mix of property type too, whether the historic spaces with preserved original features or new build spaces that provide a totally different vibe.

“We’re proud to be delivering some of the most anticipated neighbourhoods in the region and we want to hear from businesses to be part of the neighbourhoods stories from day one. With staggered openings across the sites, the next 18 months is going to be a full on but exciting time for our team and collaborators.”

Chris Nutter, founder of specialist retail and F&B agents CN Prop, added: “These projects will have a major positive impact on the towns and the wider region. The aim is to create true neighbourhoods with a community focus, so we’re looking to curate an independent-led mix of operators, from coffee shops and bars, to restaurants, grocery stores and multi use spaces, co-working spaces.

“Weir Mill in particular is pretty special, with incredible historic features and flexible spaces. It’s perfect for local and regional operators who are looking to expand into a new location or launch a new concept. Stockport is having a real moment and Weir Mill will further reinforce it as go-to destination.”
