Crew Clothing to open first store in County Durham in Barnard Castle

Crew Clothing is set to open its first store in County Durham in Barnard Castle.

The 750 sq ft store, located at 24 Market Place, will open in May and offer a range of collections for men, women, and children, including rugby shirts, polos, Oxford shirts, printed dresses, and knitwear.

Founded in the back of a windsurfing shop in Salcombe in 1993, Crew Clothing has aimed to build on its connection to the coast, with its range of clothing looking to champion British sport.

Carol Kane, head of retail at Crew Clothing, said: “Crew has always been successful in market towns across the South of the UK, and we’ve been actively looking to expand into towns in the North that fit our brand. Barnard Castle is a perfect example. It’s a thriving market town with a strong community and high street, and it complements our existing stores in Northallerton, Hexham and the Lakes region. We know our collections will be enjoyed by both local residents and visitors to the area and will sit beautifully alongside the independent businesses and brands already on the high street. We’re excited to open our doors and become part of this community.”

This signing comes amid a period of expansion for Crew Clothing, which is opening new stores in Derbyshire, Lancashire, and at Bluewater Shopping Centre this spring.
