Gloucester Quays sees 37% footfall boost following food festival

16th August 2024 | Jack Oliver

Gloucester Quays recorded a 37% week-on-week uplift in footfall, following the success of its Summer Food Festival.

Held in Gloucester Quays’ dockside Mariners Square and Orchard Square, the event brought together local food produce, crafts, pop-up bars, and live music at over 150 stalls.

The event also saw live cookery sessions as well as entertainment such as craft stations for kids.

Since its establishment in 2013, the festival has become both an important moment in the region’s calendar as well as in Gloucester Quay’s owner Peel Retail & Leisure’s strategy to invest in diverse experiences at the outlet.

The impact of the festival on Gloucester Quays can be seen in the boost to total sales at the outlet, which rose by 4.5% when compared with the same point last year. This rise in sales was led by F&B growth, at which was up by 7%.

The success of the Gloucester Quays Food Festival follows a milestone year for the outlet, as the destination celebrates its 15th anniversary.

Owen Acland, centre manager of Gloucester Quays, said: “Gloucester Quays’ Summer Food Festival is one of the highlights in the city’s calendar of events, and 2024 gave us yet another hugely successful weekend. With a 37% rise in footfall and a significant boost to sales at the outlet, the results speak for themselves. The strength of the Gloucester Quays community continues to grow, and as we celebrate our 15th anniversary this year, we remain dedicated to going above and beyond to deliver for our established catchment.”
