Heathrow’s Terminal 5 sees busiest day since 2019
Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 saw its busiest day since Christmas 2019 during February half term, suggesting that consumer confidence in travelling is recovering to levels close to those seen before the Pandemic.
February 26th saw a total of 94,000 passengers pass through Terminal 5, while the entire month saw 5.2 million people travelling through Heathrow.
Footfall during the month increased 95.5% compared to January, and was ahead of March 2022 by 181.7%.
Top holiday destinations during half term were Dubai, New York, and Madrid.
Heathrow said that overall passenger satisfaction was close to pre-Pandemic levels as it looks to maintain this in the run-up to the summer.
As COVID restrictions lift, Heathrow say that the demand for the East Asian market is growing fast, with eight times as many passengers visiting that region compared to February 2022.
