Hobbycraft owner mulls sale

The owner of Hobbycraft is considering a sale of the business after receiving an offer from a potential buyer.

Sky News has reported that private equity group Modella Capital is preparing to appoint advisers to lead on a sale.

The firm acquired the arts and crafts retailer from Bridgepoint in 2024.

Modella Capital also owns the TGJones chain of stores after acquiring WH Smith’s high street business in 2025. The group has also acquired and restructured Claire’s and The Original Factory Shop over the last 12 months, both of which were subsequently put into administration.

Last year, the retailer closed a number of stores as part of a restructuring plan.
