Ikea to open small format store in Norwich

5th August 2025 | Jack Oliver

Ikea is set to open the second of a trio of small format stores at Hall Road Retail Park in Norwich.

Opening in late August, the homeware retailer’s new location will join the recently-opened small format Ikea store in Harlow, Essex.

The new format stores have been developed to be faster and more effective to open than traditional Ikea stores, and will all be located at retail parks.

The Norwich store – which will open its doors just over 100 days after the lease was acquired – will feature a show room and market hall, and offer online access to the full Ikea range as well as planning services for kitchens and bedroom storage.

Councillor Mike Stonard, leader of Norwich City Council, said: “I am delighted to see this household name return to Norwich, which will help bring the jobs, opportunity and growth we are striving for through our community-led plan. This is a huge vote of confidence in our city and a fantastic boost for our regional economy.”

Ikea Norwich forms part of the retailer’s wider expansion plan in 2025, which will include the upcoming opening of two ‘Plan and Order Points’ in York and Dundee, a third small format store in Chester, and a new city store in Brighton.
