Real estate investment trust (REIT) LXi has bolstered its senior management team with two new appointments, following a merger with Secure Income REIT.

Alex Short has been appointed by the firm as chief investment officer, while Alec MacEachin will take on the role of finance director.

Short has over 20 years experience in the property industry, having worked in senior roles at leading real estate businesses including AEW and UBS.

MacEachin has experience in property and construction finance as well as accounting matters, most recently having worked at Empiric Student Property as group financial controller.

LXi is invested in a diverse portfolio, with 27% of its properties within the leisure sector and 9% within food stores and essentials.

The appointments were announced as part of the REIT’s trading update for the third quarter, in which it revealed a 100% let portfolio, the valuation of which is expected at the end of March.
