Poppies to open fourth London chippy
Poppies, the London-based fish and chip restaurant, is set to open its fourth location in the capital on the Portobello Road.
The 807 sq ft restaurant will open in December, joining Poppies’ existing locations in Spitalfields, Soho, and Camden.
The 64-cover restaurant will look to provide a cosy and nostalgic atmosphere and will be designed with the site’s former residents in mind, with wooden panelling remaining from its time as a bank and signage from its previous occupancy as a butchers.
There will also be a number of retro touches and tributes to Poppies’ founder – the late Pat ‘Pop’ Newland.
His son, Danny, said the restaurant couldn’t “leave West Londoners without decent Poppies fish and chips any longer”.
“Poppies, like Portobello Road, is dedicated to preserving London’s rich traditions and history which makes it the perfect fit”, he added.
