Quartet of brands invest at Metrocentre

Metrocentre in Gateshead has welcomed new investment from four brands across its Platinum and Green Malls.
Leading the investments is Boots, which has refreshed its existing 40,000 sq ft space within the scheme’s Green Mall. The health and beauty retailer – which has been in residence at Metrocentre for almost 40 years – has looked to improve accessibility to its products as well as its opticians’ services.
At Metrocentre’s Platinum Mall, Clintons has undergone an extensive refit of its store, with the greeting card retailer showcasing its new concept. The upgraded space features an expanded range of gifting options and party items.
Also reinvesting in the Platinum Mall is tour operator Kuomi. The store now features a new digital window display as well as a modernised layout.
Finally, Muffin Break – a longstanding tenant at Metrocentre – has introduced its new store concept to the scheme.
Ben Cox, director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, asset manager of Metrocentre, said: “This critical mass of brand investments is a firm indicator of how Metrocentre remains a key and growing location within retailer portfolios. The partnerships we create and sustain with our brands are indispensable to the overall experience here, and we will always encourage and support our retailers to maximise their spaces to their full potential. These investments signal confidence, stability, and long-term commitment, and continue to highlight the strength of Metrocentre and its surrounding catchment.”
This follows the recent announcement that Urban Outfitters has signed for its first UK store this year, with the retailer taking 8,000 sq ft in Metrocentre’s Upper Mall.
