Raft of lettings secured at Huddersfield scheme ahead of landmark leisure opening

Kingsgate Shopping Centre in Huddersfield has secured a raft of retail lettings ahead of the opening of major leisure operator The Light next week.
Holland & Barrett has taken on the 2,000 sq ft former The Body Shop unit on a five-year lease, while Pandora has relocated to a larger, approximately 1,500 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease.
Meanwhile, Lovisa has taken the 850 sq ft former GAME store for a 10-year term, while Boots is relocating into the centre from King Street, taking a store totalling approximately 16,000 sq ft on a 10-year lease.
These announcements come as Kingsgate Shopping Centre – which is owned by WD Limited – prepares to welcome multi-leisure operator The Light in the former House of Fraser department store on 11th April. The venue will offer a six-screen cinema, bowling, arcades, a climbing centre, interactive darts, karaoke, and restaurants.
Steve Bateman, asset manager at Kingsgate Shopping Centre, said: “Huddersfield town centre is seeing some major changes with interventions from key stakeholders, including Kirklees Council to remove surplus retail and leisure. This is consolidating the prime retail and leisure pitch within and around Kingsgate Centre. We are really pleased to be welcoming these new brands to the centre”
Other occupiers at the 280,000 sq ft shopping centre include JD Sports, TK Maxx, Sports Direct, HMV, Waterstones, and River Island.
KLM Real Estate and Newns Webster are the scheme’s retained letting agents.
