Russell & Bromley steps into the suburbs
Shoe retailer Russell & Bromley is targeting affluent suburban areas as it looks to take a step away from its traditional high street locations.
The family-owned retailer is aiming to open in “neighbourhood” locations, its chief executive Andrew Bromley told The Times.
Russell & Bromley currently has a portfolio of over 30 stores on British high streets, including London stores in Oxford Street, Regent Street, and Jermyn Street.
However trading in shopping centres and high streets has “fallen off” since the pandemic, said Andrew Bromley, while “Chelsea, for example, has gotten stronger as people are shopping closer to home and more locally”, he added.
The retailer has recently opened a store at Canary Wharf, and launched its first overseas store in Dublin earlier this year. It is also planning potential store openings in Europe and the United States.
