Søstrene Grene to make North East debut at Newcastle’s Eldon Square

25th June 2024 | Jack Oliver

Søstrene Grene is set to open its first store in the North East at Eldon Square in Newcastle, as the Danish brand continues to expand across the UK.

Spanning 5,000 sq ft, the new store will be located on the scheme’s Upper Mall, adjacent to Swarovski.

Søstrene Grene Eldon Square will feature the brand’s Scandinavian-inspired products across its homeware, kitchenware, stationery, and craft supplies ranges.

In line with the retailer’s commitment to sustainability, the store will use sustainable materials and focus on reducing environmental impact. It will also feature areas dedicated to workshops and events for customers to engage in crafting activities and learn new skills.

With over 30 stores across the UK, the new opening marks a continuation of Søstrene Grene’s expansion strategy, with the retailer planning to open 100 new stores by 2030. This strategy has seen the brand recently open its first store in Hampshire at Basingstoke’s Festival Place.

Cormac Hamilton, general manager at Eldon Square, said: “We are very excited to welcome Søstrene Grene to the North East. Eldon Square’s central location allows for high footfall, providing a great opportunity for the Scandinavian brand to build awareness and rise in popularity in the North East.”

Jonathan Cooper, UK joint venture partner at Søstrene Grene, added: “Newcastle is the perfect place to continue our UK expansion and we can’t wait to welcome Søstrene Grene to the North East. It will offer customers the chance to discover the joy of finding beautiful, functional and affordable items, all while experiencing the unique atmosphere that Søstrene Grene is known for.”
