The Mall Luton set to be rebranded by Frasers Group
The Mall Luton is set to undergo a change of name after new owners Frasers Group announced that it plans to rename the scheme to Luton Point, as it looks to highlight the centre’s position in the heart of the town.
The scheme’s asset manager, Sovereign Centros, has submitted a planning application to Luton Borough Council to update The Mall’s external signage to the new name.
The 900,000 sq ft scheme – which was opened in 1972 – is anchored by tenants including Primark, Tk Maxx, H&M, River Island, and Boots. Its grocery offering includes Lidl and Tesco Express. The Mall Luton is also home to over 120 shops, cafés, and restaurants, along with a market hall. The centre expects to announce a number of openings in the coming months including a new Sports Direct store.
Frasers Group acquired the Luton scheme for £58m from Capital & Regional in March.
Mark Stapleton, asset manager at Sovereign Centros, said: “Luton Point reflects a new ownership with a new approach, and a move to an identity more in keeping with the centre’s place within the town”.
Subject to approval, Sovereign Centros expects the new brand to be in place in early 2024.
JLL and NM Real Estate are the scheme’s joint leasing agents.
