The Range owner to open new concept stores at former Homebase sites

The owner of The Range and Wilko brands is to open a number of new format stores at former Homebase locations.
CDS Superstores – which acquired the Homebase brand and around 70 of its stores following its collapse into administration last year – has confirmed that four of these new The Range stores are set to open on Friday 9th May.
CDS has previously expressed its intention to reopen 45 former Homebase units as The Range stores.
The rebranded stores are designed to provide customers with an improved shopping experience which combines The Range’s product selection with Homebase’s home improvement offering. Each store will also feature a ‘Garden Centres by Homebase’ section.
Alex Simpkin, chief executive of CDS Superstores, said: “We’re fully committed to retaining the best of Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader product range and value that customers expect from us as The Range.
“While those Homebase stores acquired by CDS will continue to trade throughout the transition period, we’re focused on ensuring a seamless transfer of these locations into our new store format, with fifteen launches confirmed for this year so far.
“This latest development underscores CDS Superstores’ commitment to revitalising the retail landscape by blending trusted brands, preserving jobs and enhancing local economies.”
