Tortilla set to expand travel portfolio with new franchise deal
Mexican restaurant chain Tortilla is set to expand its presence within travel locations after signing a new deal with its partner SSP Group.
The new five-year agreement will see Tortilla’s presence in SSP-operated locations triple in size in the UK, from six sites to 18.
The new deal follows the successful launch of Tortilla’s latest airport location at Glasgow’s main departure lounge in September.
This expansion builds on strong performance metrics, with Tortilla’s UK franchise locations delivering over 10% sales growth in the first half of 2024.
Andy Naylor, CEO at Tortilla Mexican Grill, said: “We’re delighted to extend our partnership with SSP for another five years, particularly given the strong sales performance we have seen this year. SSP’s ability to secure prime locations in airports and travel hubs has played a key role in driving brand awareness and fuelling our growth across these sites. Looking ahead, we see major strategic opportunities to accelerate growth through expanding our franchise network in the UK and Europe, both with existing and new partners.”
Kari Daniels, CEO of SSP UK and Ireland, added: “We have growing momentum in our partnership with Tortilla, including new outlets in Glasgow Airport and Leeds train station. We’re now looking to the future and the next stage in our journey together to provide more choice of great-tasting takeaway options at more travel hubs across the UK.”
