UNIQLO opens at Kings Cross’ Coal Drops Yard

Fashion retailer UNIQLO has opened the doors to its flagship store at Kings Cross’ Coal Drops Yard.

The Japanese brand’s three-storey, 8,600 sq ft store is located within a Grade II-listed Victorian coal drops shed, and represents the most significant retail letting at the destination since it opened in 2018.

The store’s second floor houses a ‘UNIQLO Studio’ where customers can recycle, repair, or remake garments to extend their lifespan.

This comes as the brand prepares to reopen its refurbished store at Westfield London in October.

Alessandro Dudech, UNIQLO UK chief operating officer, said: “We are thrilled to be continuing our UK expansion with these two new store openings in fall winter 2024.

“We are excited to be able to offer LifeWear to the local communities of people who live and work in the buzzing Coal Drops Yard and Kings Cross area and look forward to welcoming back customers to the renovated White City store in October.”

UNIQLO’s arrival follows a number of new retail openings at King’s Cross. East London’s Mare Street Market opened in mid-June, whilst Danish homeware retailer Søstrene Grene opened earlier this year at the destination.

The brand joins a roster of other fashion retailers at King’s Cross such as & Other Stories, Paul Smith, Ba&sh, Beyond Retro, and Cos.

King’s Cross is managed by Related Argent.
