Wetherspoon opens £2.9m pub at The O2

JD Wetherspoon has opened its latest site at The O2‘s Entertainment District in London.

The 8,000 sq ft ‘The Stargazer’ sits adjacent to Mamma Mia! The Party and hosts a 3,800 sq ft beer garden with views across the Thames and Canary Wharf.

The £2.9m pub will aim to create 120 new jobs and will specialise in real ales and traditional ciders along with craft and world beers. The Stargazer will also serve traditional pub dishes.

The pub is stylised to pay homage to its North Greenwich home, with its name and interior designed to associate with themes of astronomy and navigation, featuring historical photography, sculptures, artwork and lighting reflecting stars, planets, astrologer equipment and astronomers.

The pub’s arrival follows the recent opening of sweets specialist Haute Dolci at The O2, which recently opened in the Entertainment District.

Janine Constantin-Russell, managing director at the Entertainment District and Icon Outlet at The O2, said: “The Stargazer is a fantastic addition to our F&B line-up here at The O2, and Wetherspoon’s extensive investment in this space emphasises the importance of our location and the opportunities that we can provide for brands, whether that be independents or household names.”
