Wickes targets 300 stores nationwide after profits beat expectations
Wickes is looking to grow its store estate to 300 locations nationwide after reporting higher-than-expected profits in 2025.
The DIY retailer – which currently operates around 230 stores – said it is planning to open four to five new stores in 2026, while refitting or refreshing a further 15 to 20 locations. Wickes said this growth would be accelerated from 2028 onwards.
This comes as Wickes releases its financial results for 2025, a period during which it opened five new stores and completed 11 refits and refreshes.
During the year, the group posted revenue of £1.64bn, up 5.9% year-on-year, while its pre-tax adjusted profit increased by 14.4% to £49.9m. The retailer’s statutory pre-tax profit more than doubled to £48.7m, compared with £23.2m the previous year.
Wickes said this growth was driven by continued gains in its retail arm, which saw an increase in revenue of 6.5%.
David Wood, chief executive of Wickes, said the retailer had delivered “another year of strong progress” against its strategy.
He added: “Given the strength of investment returns from our proven store refit and new store rollout strategy, we have today announced the decision to accelerate our investment for future growth.”
