Work to start on new Tk Maxx store at Sunderland’s The Bridges

3rd January 2025 | Jack Oliver

Work to create a new Tk Maxx store at The Bridges shopping centre in Sunderland is set to commence soon.

Units 77-80 will be combined to create a new space for the fashion and homeware retailer, with work due to commence on 7 January.

Work to create a new Tesco unit will also begin this month, with two additional tenants being lined up for new units.

Meanwhile, Greggs will relocate from its existing kiosk to a unit formerly occupied by Ann Summers.

The Bridges was acquired last year by Evolve Estates, part of M Core.

Karen Eve, centre director at The Brudges, said: “I’m really excited about our plans for 2025 with new lettings lined up for the old Kamrans Barbers and the external unit next door to Vape Local.

“The centre was acquired by new owners earlier this year and we are looking at ways to enliven the Crowtree Mall so there is a great deal to look forward to in the year ahead.”
