XPE Group announces XSite Braehead rebrand
XPE Group, the owner of XSite Braehead, has announced a new brand identity for the leisure and entertainment destination.
The new ‘GRID’ name and brand will start appearing on-site at the Glasgow destination over the coming months.
Driven by a £12.6m investment programme, GRID will be anchored by K1 Speed, an indoor e-karting attraction boasting the world’s longest indoor race-track, set to open in summer 2026.
Alongside K1 Speed, GRID will also host a number of new family-oriented offers, including Gymnastics Academy and Heavenly Desserts, as well as electric vehicle charging facilities in the car park.
Existing tenants at the destination have also recently upgraded, with ODEON refreshing its customer offer with a new laser IMAX installation, while Paradise Island Adventure Golf and Funstation have both announced refits.
While a nod to electric karting, referencing the forthcoming K1 Speed, the GRID name also pays homage to the heritage of the site as a former electricity plant.
The rebrand comes as the site joins Braehead Shopping Centre, Braehead Arena, IKEA, and other local stakeholders in forming Braehead Ambition, a strategic collective focused on enhancing and refining the customer experience across the wider Braehead shopping and leisure estate.
Pete Cooper, director of XPE Group, said: “The launch of GRID will redefine this already much-loved destination and extend its appeal far beyond its existing catchment. The ambition of the brand is to surprise our guests with new, better and updated experiences, both through an offer unique to Glasgow and indeed Scotland, and through the small details that make a big difference to the overall experience. We’re creating a space with international standards, local relevance and long-term impact. From how our site teams interact with guests to our website we are leaving no stone unturned to bring GRID firmly into pole position as the most compelling leisure destination in the region while retaining the strong local connection the site has always enjoyed. We are creating over 200 new local jobs through our investment and Renfrew Council’s support for our plans has been exemplary.”
Matt Beddow, senior director of asset management at Pradera Lateral, GRID’s Asset Manager, added: “2026 will be another huge year for this scheme and the arrival of GRID to Braehead signifies the next chapter for what is already a much-loved leisure destination. Backed by a large scale, unprecedented investment and with an enhanced visitor experience, we are setting GRID up for a bright future.”
