Yorkshire retail park secures 17,000 sq ft of new leases

Parkgate retail park in Rotherham, Yorkshire has completed 17,000 sq ft of new lettings with the signings of The Food Warehouse and Mydentist.

The Food Warehouse has taken a 12,500 sq ft unit adjacent to Morrisons on a 15-year term. Part of the Iceland Food Group, The Food Warehouse offers goods with larger pack sizes at value prices in stores often double the size of traditional Iceland locations.

Meanwhile, dental care provider Mydentist has agreed to take a 5,000 sq ft unit, also on a 15-year lease. This move is expected to drive increased footfall to the retail park, helping to cement Parkgate’s reputation as a leading regional retail destination.

Alongside the new arrivals, Parkgate has secured a number of recommitments with Asda Living, Boots, and River Island regearing their leases over the past three moths for a collective footprint of over 40,000 sq ft.

This comes on the back of Next’s renewal at its 16,225 sq ft store at the turn of the year and Superdrug doubling its occupation last autumn. Wilko also completed a major refit of its 20,000 sq ft store, which was one of the first to reopen as part of the brand’s bricks and mortar revival last year.

Mark Kanaris-Sotiriou, senior operations manager at Parkgate, said: “Since acquiring Parkgate, we have focused squarely on operational improvement, enhancing the existing strong occupational mix with cherry picked new openings, while completing over 100,000 sq ft of new leases in the last year alone.

“The exciting opening of Rotherham’s new link road and Park and Ride further affirmed the ease of access to this keystone location for brands’ retail portfolios and made Parkgate even more accessible to a greater catchment area. With the arrival of The Food Warehouse on the horizon, Parkgate’s appeal is only growing as customers seek out convenient, practical and enjoyable retail experiences”.

The leasing agents for Parkgate are Curson Sowerby Partners and Morgan William
