Zara to upsize in Gateshead shopping centre
Fashion retailer Zara is poised to upsize its existing store at Gateshead’s Metrocentre.
The two storey, 42,000 sq ft upgrade will see the store more than double in size when it opens in late 2023.
Ben Cox of asset managers Sovereign Centros said: “An investment of this scale from one of the globe’s leading brands is a major demonstration of the strength of Metrocentre. Zara’s expansion over two levels completes the re-anchoring of Red Mall alongside the arrival of Flannels and Sports Direct into the former Debenhams. Given Zara’s current popularity with Metrocentre’s customers and the truly impressive quality of their most recent flagship openings, we’re certain the new store will be a huge success.”
This news follows a number of recent lettings and openings including H&M / H&M Home, Jo Malone, Harrods H Beauty, Vanilla, Schuh/Schuh Kids, Tapas Revolution, Grounded Kitchen, and Miniso over the last few months.
