Coventry City strike deal to stay at stadium
Coventry City Football Club has struck a new deal to keep playing its home games at the Coventry Building Society (CBS) Arena.
Frasers Group purchased the stadium out of administration in November for £17m, but handed the Sky Blues an eviction notice in early December.
Frasers said at the time: “Prior to acquiring the stadium, Frasers issued a new licence mirroring the terms CCFC had agreed with the previous owners. However, CCFC chose not to sign it at that time.
“A revised proposal, together with a new licence, has been issued to CCFC and will secure the immediate future of CCFC at the stadium.”
However since then, Coventry City are set to play their home games at the CBS arena after striking a new deal.
Coventry City FC said: “This represents a positive step forward for the Club and its fans and we now look forward to establishing a constructive working relationship with Frasers Group.
“The licence that we have today signed will run until May 2023 and is subject to EFL approval, which we expect to be granted on Tuesday.
“Coventry City will now commence amicable talks with Frasers Group with a view to agreeing a longer-term licence for the Club to play at the Arena.”
