Charles Tyrwhitt returns to Bristol

16th March 2023 | Jack Oliver

Clothing brand Charles Tyrwhitt is opening its debut Bristol store at Cribbs Mall, nearly four decades after its conception in the city’s Clifton suburb in 1986.

Opening in late March, the retailer will open in a 1,600 sq ft unit on the upper floor near John Lewis.

The brand was founded by Nick Wheeler OBE in his room while studying at the University of Bristol. The opening of its ‘hometown’ store will be the retailer’s 46th globally.

The Cribbs Mall branch will offer one-on-one styling appointments and a custom shirts service, and will allow customers to recycle shirts, either Charles Tyrwhitt branded or not, to be rewarded with discounts on new ones.

The store will also feature technological features such as interactive QR codes as well as digitalised visuals to show off the brand’s products.

Charles Tyrwhitt’s arrival follows those of other fashion retailers at Cribbs Mall in recent months such as Kurt Geiger, Carvela, Tommy Hilfiger, and Mango.

Scott Linard, portfolio director at M&G Real Estate, said: “Large regional retail centres in strategic, accessible locations such as Cribbs Mall continue to attract leading retail brands thanks to consistently strong footfall. Cribbs Mall is well known for its extensive fashion and clothing offer, and we are delighted to welcome such a recognisable brand in Charles Tyrwhitt.”
