Coffee #1 looking to brewing more openings after strong Christmas

Caffé Nero-owned Coffee #1 has said that it is encouraged to continue its expansion drive after a solid period of Christmas trading.

The coffee chain saw a like-for-like sales increase of 17.7% for the four week period in the run-up to Christmas Day, compared to 2019.

Coffee #1 said it recorded its highest ever trading weeks in December, with sales each week exceeding £1.1m.

The chain has recently opened in Leek and Macclesfield while a forthcoming café in Epsom is expected to open this month, becoming Coffee #1’s first site within the M25 and its 110th overall.

Managing director of Coffee #1, Bruce Newman, said: “While the impact of rising costs remains challenging, I’m encouraged by the relevance and appeal of our brand in existing and new locations. This gives me confidence to accelerate our growth plans in 2023.  The very early signs in Leek and Macclesfield have been highly encouraging and we are looking forward to bringing Coffee#1 to Epsom.”
