Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo’s Luciano restaurant in Alderley Edge has been sold to restaurant group San Carlo.

The Italian-influenced eatery will remain open until February 14th, when customers will be able to enjoy a final Valentine’s Day mean before its closure.

The restaurant will then remain closed for around five weeks before reopening under the San Carlo brand, before undergoing a full refurbishment at a later date.

It is believed that all staff at the site will retain their jobs.

San Carlo runs 32 restaurants internationally, with two sites in set to open in Dubai and Miami late in the year.

D’Acampo launched the Luciano brand on the Strand in 2021, naming the restaurant after his son. He is set to open a restaurant and bar at the Marriott in Leeds, which would be his brand’s sixth launch in two years following recent signings with Melia Hotels and Marriott.

Steven Walker, Chairman of Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant business, said: “The deal is part of our strategy to focus on opening upmarket restaurants in central London and major UK cities such as our imminent openings in Leeds and Manchester, together with international locations.”
