Flannels’ move to Nottingham city centre could be back on track after being delayed since last February.
The fashion retailer has submitted plans for the former River Island store at 11-13 Lister Gate.
It’s unclear if Flannels will keep the branch at Bridlesmith Gate in Nottingham once the new site is open.
The news has been welcomed by locals as many retailers, including Marks & Spencer Home, Boots, Shoe Zone, and WH Smith shut during the pandemic. Lister Gate suffered further as the Broadmarsh shopping centre was closed and partially demolished.
Retail expert Nelson Blackley said: “The news that Flannels, the UK luxury retailer of men’s and women’s designer clothing and accessories, is opening a store in Lister Gate is great news for Nottingham and a real boost for a part of the city centre that has really suffered with store closures and declining shopper footfall over the past few years.
