Landsec lodges plans to create F&B and leisure destination at St David’s Cardiff

Landsec has submitted a planning application to transform Queens Arcade at St David’s in Cardiff into a new food, beverage, and leisure centre.

Under the first phase of the proposals, three new restaurant units will be created, while enhancements will be made to the building’s façade.

These plans come during a period of growth for St David’s. Occupancy at the scheme has reached 97% following the Welsh debuts of Sephora, Pureseoul, and Pop Mart, as well as the launch of a 32,000 sq ft flagship JD Sports. St David’s is also set to welcome the opening of the UK’s largest Hollywood Bowl, which will include the operator’s first-ever e-karting offering.

Tim Treadwell, head of retail portfolio at Landsec, said: “These plans represent the next step in our long-term commitment to Cardiff and our vision for the future of St David’s. Landsec has had a long association with the city and we’re excited about its future as one of the UK’s most attractive destinations for retail, leisure and hospitality.

“We believe that our plans for Queens Arcade will help unlock its full potential, bringing even more of what people want to this exciting and growing city. As St David’s continues to go from strength to strength, this investment will build on that success, helping St David’s remain fresh and relevant, a go-to destination for new brands and guests alike.”

Helen Morgan, centre director at St David’s Cardiff, added: “Our exciting new plans for Queens Arcade build on our long-standing investment in Cardiff. Our plans will elevate the site in line with other areas of the city, enhancing the experience for locals and tourists visiting us at St David’s and the wider city.

“We know our guests at St David’s expect best-in-class experiences, and these plans to enhance its appeal as a leading retail and leisure destination in the city create even more reasons to visit. The redevelopment of Queens Arcade also creates new job opportunities in our community, and is designed to complement everything  that our brilliant city has to offer.”

Phase one of the Queens Arcade development plans are currently pending approval with Cardiff City Council, with leasing updates and phase two to follow.
