Receivers appointed to Leicester’s Highcross Shopping Centre
Savills has been appointed as joint receivers of Highcross Shopping Centre in Leicester after it fell into receivership last month.
Receivers at Savills said it is seeking opportunities to enhance the shopping centre and confirmed the day-to-day running of the scheme and the management team will remain unchanged.
The 106,000 sq ft shopping centre is anchored by John Lewis and a Showcase Cinema de Lux.
A letter from Savills to the scheme’s tenants read: “Our appointment is solely over the charged property, ie. Highcross Shopping Centre. We have no involvement with the running of the landlord company itself.
“While we are working consensually with them, Highcross Shopping Centre Limited, the legal owner, have no authority to make decisions with regard to the centre following our appointment and all decisions relating to the centre will be taken by the receivers.
“All income receivable from the centre and all monies payable by occupiers, whether by way of rent or otherwise, is now due to the receivers.”
The property consultancy said it was looking to appoint a property management firm to the centre.
Highcross opened to the public in September 2008, combining an extensive refurbishment of the former Shires shopping centre, together with a large, mixed-use extension.
