Loungers to open at Leeds shopping centre
Café and bar group Loungers is set to join The Springs at Thorpe Park Leeds.
Loungers has signed a 15-year lease to take occupation of a 4,080 sq ft unit adjacent to ODEON Luxe and Nandos at the Leeds retail park.
The group, which also owns Cosy Club, says its cafés and bars combine elements of restaurants as well as a British pub and coffee shop culture.
The group currently operates 200 Lounges nationwide and said it has ambitions to open a further 30 venues across the UK within the next year.
The new Leeds site will open on February 22 and Loungers says it will create 27 new jobs.
Rachel Vickers, senior commercial manager at Scarborough Group International, asset managers for The Springs and Thorpe Park Leeds, said: “The deal is testament to the strength of proposition for the centre which continues to attract high-quality operators, creating a fantastic mixed offering for the Thorpe Park estate and wider East Leeds Community.”
“The introduction of a new café-bar, sitting alongside the cinema and existing food and beverage outlets, will widen the audience appeal and catchment with reason to spend more time at The Springs. This is further supported by the forthcoming new railway station on site that will provide direct access from the likes of York and Harrogate and also from Leeds City Centre in just eight minutes”, she added.
This news comes a few months after the opening of a 18,362 sq ft Dunelm at The Springs, while other recent openings at the scheme include Betty Loves Candles and Elan Laser Clinics.
In November, Loungers announced the launch of a new roadside dining concept, Brightside, which it looks to begin rolling out in February.
