MOCO set to open third museum at London’s Marble Arch
Contemporary art museum MOCO is set to open its third venue at London’s Marble Arch, after plans were approved by Westminster City Council.
Occupying One Marble Arch and 1 Great Cumberland Place – which was recently refurbished by The Portman Estate – MOCO Marble Arch will be spread over three floors, displaying contemporary and modern art.
The museum will also feature a store selling merchandise and souvenirs.
The Marble Arch museum will join MOCO’s existing locations in Amsterdam and Barcelona, which opened in 2016 and 2021 respectively.
The opening will form part of the emerging cultural cluster in the Marble Arch district, including Frameless, The Wallace Collection and Serpentine Galleries.
Kay Buxton, chief executive of the Marble Arch BID, said: “We are thrilled to see the plans for MOCO Marble Arch approved unanimously by Westminster Council. This is MOCO’s first venture outside the continent, and a huge vote of confidence in London and the West End.
“Marble Arch has become a magnet for culture and leisure operators following its transformation, with this investment by MOCO the latest boost. As one of the leading museums for modern, contemporary and street art, MOCO will be bringing iconic works to London for the first time.
“We are very much looking forward to MOCO’s big reveal at Marble Arch in 2024.”
