After making its successful UK high street debut in Stratford, London in 2021, the US fast-food chain has announced its plans to expand in 2023.

Popeyes’ ‘Famous Louisiana Chicken’ has proved such a success with Brits, that it plans to open an additional 20 restaurants across the UK, bringing its total number to 31.

Confirmed locations include Cambridge, Croydon and Reading.

This comes after a record-breaking opening day for Popeyes’ new Oxford store, which saw customers queuing from 5 AM to get their hands on the iconic fried chicken.

CEO at Popeyes UK, Tom Crowley, commented: “There is a pattern emerging now at all our openings with people queuing through the night to be the first in line on opening day.

“It’s fantastic to see how well we are being received right across the UK.”

He also added that drive-thru locations will start making an appearance, with the first likely to be in Rotherham at Parkgate Shopping Park.
