Sales at The O2 above pre-pandemic levels

The O2‘s Entertainment District and shopping destination, Icon Outlet, have reported a strong year of trading, with sales performance above levels seen before the pandemic.

Outlet shopping sales were up 28% and Entertainment District trading saw an improvement of 56% from June to August compared to 2019.

December also saw a like-for-like improvement of outlet shopping sales of 17% compared to pre-COVID levels.

Over the whole year, Icon Outlet recorded a 16% increase in like-for-like sales in 2022 compared to 2019, as well as a 12% increase in weekly average sales and an increase in average customer spend of 16%. In December, the Outlet recorded sales growth of 13% compared to 2019 during the ‘Super Saturday’ weekend of 17th-18th December, and an increase of 11% on Boxing Day, the Outlet’s biggest day for sales since opening.

The O2‘s Entertainment District also reported an increase in footfall of 7% in 2022, with sales increasing by a third versus 2019. The venue hosted various events including performances from Billie Eilish, Queen, Adam Lambert and Blackpink, as well as hosting the 2022 Laver Cup.

The destination saw plenty of leasing activity in 2022, welcoming Soukra, Trapdoor, iFLY Indoor Skydiving, Superdry, Claire’s, Raging Bull, murmur, and signing an 8,000 sq ft space for JD Wetherspoon’s new pub, ‘The Stargazer’.

New signings and openings in 2022 across the destination totalled over 54,000 sq ft in space.

KLM and CBRE are the retail leasing agents for Icon Outlet with Lunson Mitchenall leading on the food and beverage leasing.
