Starbucks brews up The Springs Leeds opening
Starbucks is set to open a new store at The Springs retail and leisure centre at Thorpe Park Leeds in the coming weeks.
Taking a 2,500 sq ft unit, the coffee shop operator’s arrival at The Springs comes as part of continuing growth plans, with more stores planned across the UK.
The store, which is currently undergoing a fit out, and will accommodate up to 64 customers.
In line with the operator’s sustainability commitments, the store has been built to the ‘Greener Store’ specification, meeting 25 required standards across eight environmental impact areas including energy efficiency, water stewardship and waste diversion.
The news follows a number of new openings at The Springs, with Hotel Chocolat and Cook being the most recent. Pret a Manger and Loungers also opened at the scheme last year, expanding its food and beverage offering.
Rachel Vickers, senior commercial manager at Scarborough Group International, developer and asset manager of The Springs and Thorpe Park Leeds, said: “We are delighted to announce that Starbucks is coming to The Springs Leeds, providing even more high-quality leisure and retail options for our visitors. The highly-popular brand perfectly complements our onsite amenity for the business park community as well as our destination offering for shopping and leisure.
“In recent years, East Leeds has seen significant investment with major improvements to local infrastructure that has supported a considerable increase in visitors to The Springs. Indeed, our site is one the best performing out of town locations in the entire UK for many of our store operators. This is because we have a transient visitor profile as well as an established working community of over 7,500 people on the business park. New residential conurbations, both completed and in the pipeline, alongside 150 acres of community parkland and green open spaces make our offer even more compelling, and we are excited to announce further new openings very soon.”
The 350,000 sq ft The Springs has been used as a springboard to launch new concepts from a number of operators, such as the UK’s first purpose-designed ODEON Luxe cinema, a joint venture between Next and Piccolo by Piccolino, a new concept store for The Range, and a private dental practice.
