Time Out Market to make UK debut on London’s Regent Street
Time Out Market is set to open its first location in the UK at 55 Regent Street, part of The Crown Estate’s 10 Piccadilly development in London’s West End.
Scheduled to open in the first half of 2028, Time Out Market London will span over 26,400 sq ft across three floors, bringing together a curated mix of around 15 restaurants, bars, and food businesses.
Since launching its first market in Lisbon in 2014, Time Out Market has since grown to 13 locations across nine countries, and the Regent Street opening brings the concept to the city where Time Out was founded in 1968.
The announcement follows the unveiling of the latest phase of the largest development pipeline in The Crown Estate’s history – including 10 Piccadilly – as it continues to invest in its portfolio across Regent Street and St James’s. Originally home to the Swan & Edgar department store and later Tower Records in the 1980s, the Grade II-listed 10 Piccadilly is being reimagined by The Crown Estate. Alongside Time Out Market, the scheme will deliver 62,700 sq ft of office space and 1,700 sq ft of retail space.
Sarah McLaren, hospitality and leisure director at The Crown Estate, said: “As one of the world’s leading curators of food and cultural concepts, Time Out Market will bring the ‘best of the city’ under one roof welcoming some of the most exciting and emerging hospitality and cultural partners.
“This new global flagship at the gateway to Regent Street will create opportunities for innovative operators to grow and thrive. This has always been central to our approach, and Time Out Market provides a fantastic platform to showcase new talent to a global audience. With Regent Street’s international profile and diverse food and beverage offer, this is a natural fit that will further strengthen its appeal as a world-class destination where people come to discover, experience and enjoy the very best of London.”
Charles Owen, head of Regent Street at The Crown Estate, added: “We’re proud to welcome the UK’s first Time Out Market to Regent Street as the brand’s global flagship. It is a significant addition to one of the world’s most recognised retail and lifestyle destinations. It reflects the area’s continued appeal to innovative international brands and demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in Regent Street, curating a diverse mix of experiences that attract visitors, workers and residents alike.
“Set within this carefully restored historic building, Time Out Market will introduce an exciting new food and drink destination in the heart of London’s West End. As significant investment and development continue to take shape across the area, it will further strengthen Regent Street’s hospitality offer, helping to drive footfall, broaden the destination’s appeal and meet growing demand from the millions of people who visit, live and work here each year.”
Chris Ohlund, CEO of Time Out Group, said: “Securing this partnership with The Crown Estate to create our global flagship in the heart of Piccadilly Circus is one of the most significant milestones in Time Out’s nearly 60-year history. Bringing the globally recognised Time Out Market concept home to London is both a celebration of where we began and a statement of where we are going.
“London is one of the world’s greatest cities for food and culture, and there is no better location than Piccadilly Circus to showcase everything that makes it extraordinary. Together with The Crown Estate, we are creating a destination that will celebrate London’s best chefs, restaurateurs, artists and creators while welcoming millions of Londoners and visitors every year.
“As our global flagship, Time Out Market London will also become the blueprint for the next generation of Time Out Markets, bringing together hospitality, culture, media, sponsorship and live experiences in a way that only Time Out can deliver.”
