The Derbion shopping centre in Derby has enjoyed a strong year with retailers investing £5.2m into the scheme in 2023.

Over the year, 13 retailers have invested into the centre through new lettings, store upsizings, and refurbishments.

This includes three new restaurants in the scheme’s refurbished food terrace, which is now fully let following a £2m investment. Chi, Tortilla, and Villa Express have all joined the centre, completing the line-up at the food terrace alongside operators such as Popeyes, KFC, and Burger & Sauce.

This year, Derbion has also welcomed cosmetics retailer Rituals, lifestyle brand MINISO, travel operator TUI, fragrance company Yankee Candle, and independent fashion retailer 1NE.

Alongside the new lettings, £3m has been invested at Derbion by existing retailers into refurbishments and store upsizes. This includes jewellery retailers Goldsmiths and Beaverbrooks, with the former set to open a second store at the scheme before Christmas.

Beth McDonald, managing director at Derbion, said: “Since we transferred to new independent ownership in 2021 we have successfully delivered a strong leasing strategy that has transformed the centre with a wide range of leading retail and leisure brands, and this year has been no exception.

“We continue to broaden our offer for customers through new and exciting openings and expanded stores in addition to playing an important role in our wider community and the city of Derby.

“Leasing momentum continues into 2024 and we’re looking forward to announcing our next phase of lettings in the new year.”
