Marston’s puts 61 pubs up for sale
Pub chain Marston’s has put 61 of its pubs on the market, as it looks to focus on maximising returns within its core estate.
The brewery, which operates over 1,400 sites, has appointed commercial real estate advisor Christie & Co. to dispose on dozens of leased & tenanted, retail, and managed pubs.
The pubs will either be sold as individual properties, small packages, or as a group.
The sale, called Project Amaris, includes pubs across England and Wales, with the majority of the sites based in the Midlands and the North of England.
Noel Moffitt, senior director of corporate pubs and restaurants at Christie & Co, said: “The pub sector has been very resilient over the last few years and has adapted well to the challenges and despite interest in the sector there is a lack of properties on the market.
“This portfolio offers new entrants and existing operators a wonderful opportunity to acquire investments or operate their own businesses.”
In January, it was revealed that fellow pub chain JD Wetherspoon has placed 35 of its pubs up for sale, with the chain’s boss Tim Martin blaming the Government’s approach to levying the food and beverage industry.
